I happened upon this ancient Reclining Buddha sculpture late one afternoon on a hike to view the sunset over the hillsides of Luang Prabang in Laos. The steep, winding path was narrow and the statue so long from head to foot that I couldn't back up far enough to capture the entire Buddhist statue in one shot. I stepped as far away from this ancient symbol of Asian religion as I could and framed up this religious icon into 2 images. Once home, I reconstructed the two images in Adobe Lightroom.

A reclining Buddha is an iconic statuary pattern of Buddhism, representing the Buddha during his last illness. About to enter parinirvana � nirvana after death � he is always lying on his right side with his head resting on a cushion or on his right elbow supporting his head with his hand.

I am a North Carolina based Fine Art Photographer specializing in Landscape, Nature and Travel Photography.
