Beach Fishing Pier and Rocks at Sunrise by Jo Ann Tomaselli

Fishing piers dot the landscape up and down the coast of all States in the USA that share a boarder with the Atlantic & Pacific Oceans. The number 1 recreational activity is fishing and on many mornings, as the sun peaks above the horizon at daybreak, one can witness the presence of men, women & children walking these long wooden structures out over the ocean into a peaceful dawn, armed with rod & reels, buckets and bait. As a sea of waves rolls below their feet, the rocks on shore stand solidly attached to the coastline and another cloudless, perfect vacation day proceeds to unfold. Unfortunately, storms and hurricanes have taken their toll and many of our nations fishing piers are at risk of decay or have already been destroyed.

This image was made using a 10 stop ND filter with an exposure time of 3 minutes. The long exposure smoothed out the rough waves.
