As dawn breaks over the Appalachian Mountains, the ridges start to take shape in the pale morning light and as the sun skirts the horizon, casting a watercolor light on the Appalachian Mountains, abstract forms start to emerge. The higher the sun ascends, the more the shapes and colors emerge. Every morning on the Blue Ridge Parkway offers a different painting of the valley below. This National Park is a photographers dream!
To catch the sunrise in the Blue Ridge Mountains in western North Carolina, one has to get up early and start the journey in the dark. Setting up the camera and tripod becomes and art in and of itself as you can't see what there might be to focus on. Surprise at Natures offering each morning is the best reward!
