Description
FISH STICK by Jo Ann Tomaselli
In a small Asian fishing village, a woman works out doors to prepare the days fishing catch by stringing these small catfish onto handmade wooden skewers. As you can see from the image, they are still alive and the slime coats her hands as she processes the catch in a traditional manner. After the fish are strung, they will be laid out to dry and then smoked over open fires before they are sold in the marketplace.
Catching the fish is also part of the daily work day. As the sun rises, the women and the men head out in small wooden boats with large nets attached to a pole. The fish are caught up in the net as they drag it through the water. Many days the hull is so full, it appears it may sink from the weight of the fish.

Excellent hand details and capture of this everyday activity. Love the depth of field to keep us focused on the activity but allow us to feel the person doing the work. v/fav
